Set Yourself Apart by Doing the Basics Well

Dependable

We do what we say we will do—every time, no exceptions. 💪

You hear this a lot these days: “You can’t count on anyone.” And honestly, there’s some truth to that. We’ve all had experiences—hiring a contractor or someone to take care of something—and they didn’t show up, didn’t do the job right, didn’t finish on time. And to top it off, they didn’t even let us know what was going on.

That’s exactly why being dependable is one of the simplest and most effective ways we can set ourselves apart.

Answer the phone. Show up when you say you will. Call a customer if there’s a schedule change. If we just do these basic things, we’re already ahead of most trades businesses out there.

Of all the virtues, this might be the one that’s most tied to habit.

Sure, something like humility takes a lot of self-reflection and heart work. But dependability? That’s something you can train yourself to do—by being consistent with your time, your schedule, and your communication.

As leaders, our families, teams, and customers are counting on us.

Let’s be the kind of people they can count on—every time.
