How Stewardship Shapes Our Dependability

“Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.” — 1 Corinthians 4:2

Scripture teaches that a steward is a caretaker—someone who responsibly manages what God has entrusted to them. The primary requirement? Faithfulness. That means being trustworthy, accountable, and intentional with the resources we’ve been given: our time, our talents, our tools, and even the good news we have the opportunity to share.

Recently, I had the chance to ride with one of our Dumpster Mule team members, and something he said stood out. He consistently referred to the trailer he was hauling as “my trailer.” I loved hearing that. He treated that rig as though he owned it—because he sees himself as a caretaker. He understands stewardship, responsibility, and the importance of being faithful with what he’s been given. That mindset is a true difference-maker.

When we view our work as an opportunity to be stewards, everything changes. Being a steward where you work means you commit to the following:

What It Means to Be a Dependable Steward

Protect what you’ve been entrusted with

Your time, tools, truck, schedule, customers, and teammates—none of it is “just yours.” Treat these resources with care because they matter.

Show up with consistency, not convenience

Faithfulness isn’t proven on the easy days. It’s proven on the busy, stressful, unnoticed days. A steward remains dependable even when it’s uncomfortable.

Finish what you start

Customers and teammates rely on us to follow through. Stewardship means taking responsibility from beginning to end—closing loops, communicating clearly, and owning outcomes.

Think like an owner—even if your title says otherwise

Stewards don’t wait for instructions. They anticipate, solve, and act in the best interest of the whole team. They take personal responsibility for the experience they deliver.

Live with integrity when no one is watching

Dependability isn’t about reputation—it’s about character.

Let’s continue to embrace this mindset and be faithful stewards of the work, resources, and opportunities we are given daily.

Thank you for your commitment and your dependability.
